Ubiquiti is a well-known brand in the networking industry. Numerous businesses, schools, and public areas employ Ubiquiti access points to transmit a Wi-Fi network across a facility. The business introduced a new gadget dubbed the UniFi Dream Machine earlier this week.
This new technology is intriguing since it directly targets the prosumer market. If you’re seeking plug-and-play mesh Wi-Fi routers, Ubiquiti offers a variety of AmpliFi routers. A modular system with rackable routers and switches is more likely to grab the attention of a networking specialist.
In between these two pieces is the Dream Machine. It integrates a router, a switch with four Ethernet ports, and a wireless access point. It incorporates a cloud key that allows you to manage network and system traffic.
In terms of routing, the Dream Machine has an integrated security gateway that enables the creation of firewall settings. It provides all the features of a high-end router, including quality of service, VLAN support, site-to-site VPN, and remote VPN.
There is one WAN port for connecting to the internet and four Gigabit Ethernet connections on the switching front. The Dream Machine supports 802.11ac Wave 2 (“Wi-Fi 5”) wireless networking with a 44 MU-MIMO antenna.
The gadget is powered by a 1.7GHz ARM Cortex-A57 CPU. It contains 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a maximum power consumption of 26W.
UniFi, AmpliFi, EdgeMax, UISP, AirMax, AirFiber, GigaBeam, and UFiber are product lines of Ubiquiti. UniFi is the most popular product line since it focuses on home, prosumer, and corporate wired and wireless networking. EdgeMax is an exclusively router-and-switch-based product range devoted to wired networking. In 2020, UISP will be introduced as a suite of solutions for internet service providers.
AirMax is a product line for establishing point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PtMP) connections between networks. Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP) and Internet Service Providers (ISP) utilize AirFiber and UFiber, respectively.
